Imlay Unlimited Independent Publishing Network
Editorial standards

How we test, review and stand behind our work.

These standards apply to every publication in the network. They exist so that a reader can trust a verdict without knowing which title it came from.

01

How we test gear

We test through real field use, across enough time and conditions to learn how something actually behaves. A press release is a starting point for questions, never a source for conclusions. When a claim can be measured, we measure it: chronograph data, group sizes, glass performance in low light. When it cannot, we say so.

02

Honest review policy

We publish the cons. Every product has trade-offs, and leaving them out is a form of dishonesty. If something disappointed us, underperformed, or is simply wrong for most readers, we say that clearly. A positive review earns its praise by naming what the product does not do well.

03

Affiliate link disclosure

Some articles contain affiliate links, and a purchase made through them may earn the publication a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links never affect a verdict. We recommend the same products whether or not a link earns anything, and we disclose affiliate relationships wherever they appear.

04

Manufacturer product policy

We accept products from manufacturers for field testing. A free product guarantees neither publication nor praise. We decide independently whether something is worth writing about and what the writing will say. When a product was provided by a manufacturer, we disclose it in the article.

05

Corrections policy

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them and note the change. If you find an error of fact, tell us and we will review it.

Report corrections to editorial@imlayunlimited.com. Please include the publication, the article and the specific detail in question.

06

Technology in our process

Our content is created and verified by our authors. Technology is a tool that supports their work, not a replacement for it. Judgment, field experience and the responsibility for what we publish remain with the people whose names are on the articles.

They are not a substitute for published manufacturer data, formal training, or your own careful judgment.
