PORTRAIT
The modern shooter

Bob Smith

Tests old hunting myths and inherited wisdom against data, trail cameras and the chronograph.

Bio

Bob is an energetic modern shooter who tests old hunting myths and inherited wisdom against data. When someone tells him a thing is true because that is how granddad did it, he reaches for the evidence: trail cameras, GPS-collar studies and the chronograph. If the data agrees with the old-timers, he says so. If it does not, he says that too.

He buys and tests new gear first, often before he can really justify it, and he is the first to laugh at himself for what the gadgets cost. That habit means readers get an early, hands-on read on new platforms and optics from someone who actually put rounds through them.

He respects the old-timers, just not their myths. The point is never to prove the past wrong for sport; it is to keep what holds up under measurement and quietly retire what does not.

He spends the off season going through trail camera archives and range logs. He admits the gadget budget is out of hand, and considers it money well spent. Most of what he writes starts with the words "let us actually test that".
